Hoi An Countryside & Islands Explorer
‘Explore the roads less travelled’
Our guests will travel the river aboard a local bike ferry, and then head into the morning melee of Cam Kim Island fishing port, stopping off at an Ancestral House and a traditional boat builders’ yard before we set off to explore the sleepy island villages. We will zig-zag through breathtaking scenery of rice paddy fields and farmland, and take stops along the way to learn from friendly local families the art of mat weaving, farming and how to make (and eat) the perfect Banh Dap (rice cracker). Along the way, we will stop at a local café to fuel up on local drip-coffee, gearing up for an adrenaline pumping 300 metre bamboo bridge river crossing to the opposite landscape of the seaboard side of the island, making our way to the coast at the Thu Bon river mouth, along roads fringed with Casuarina Pine & Cashew Nut Trees. Finally, we will head up high and over the new bridge to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of Hoi An, which takes us to the water coconut palm fringed Cam Thanh and then on to a sensational seafood lunch on Hoi An’s most glorious and lesser known beach.

Hoi An Rural Villages Experience
‘Experience local life in the slow lane’
We will head out West along the banks of the Thu Bon River, first stopping at a bustling local fish market before heading into the rice paddy rich countryside and local villages. We will stop to meet a local family who makes mung bean cakes and another family who produces local rice crackers. Crossing a bridge over the Thu Bon River takes us through more quiet villages and then into the beautiful farmlands, where we will take a break for some local food while being surrounded by seasonal vegetables in the picturesque fields of corn, aubergine, sweet potatoes, cucumbers and herbs. As the sun starts to go down, we set off through the rice paddies, passing duck farms, visit a local mat weaving family and then ride along by the prawn farms and over the river to visit a charming family home where they produce the local and potent favourite brew – rice wine. It’s then a short ride to Cam Kim Harbour and on board the local ferry into Hoi An as the sun begins to set on this beautiful heritage town.

Streets & Eats Of Hoi An
‘Taste the flavours of Hoi An’
We start off by sampling the delicious local street food delight called Banh Can while watching the streets and stalls come to life and sipping a cocktail at Café Zoom. After the first taster, head out on the Vespas to try the famous ‘White Rose’ in town. We then head to lantern lit An Hoi Islet and jump in a local boat for a slow ride alongside the ancient town to Cam Nam Island. There we will join the locals for a seafood starter and a few cold beers while gazing at the Thu Bon River as the sun sets on Hoi An. A leisurely drive along the banks of the river and through the alleyways and streets takes us to a lively local restaurant where we cook a hot pot at the table and learn the art of wrap ‘n’ roll – Vietnamese style! A short ride through the busy streets and alleys takes us to our last port of call, and a recent addition to Hoi An’s vibrant dining scene, a modern Vietnamese restaurant nestled in the rice paddy fields, where we tuck into some awesome BBQ specialties, char grilled DIY style at our table! As is customary, cold beers are consumed, and we finish with the delicious dessert of Banh Flan, a light version of crème caramel.
